Please make WebDAV work

WebDAV gets rate limited or blocked whenever I use it, even when bandwidth and requests are set at absolute minimum.

The WebDAV service was last usable after your server change in february. In addition, when downloading larger amounts of data in the portable app, some files are missing.

As it is, this service is unusable. When will you fix it?

We will start using bandwidth logging to determine WebDAV usage and access and loosen the rate limiting in future. Our development team are currently working on improving our drive mounted app currently however once a date has been confirmed for our updated implementation of WebDAV we will notify the community. Apologies for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.

I didn’t know that it was limited… I was planning on start using WebDAV to sync my NAS to the cloud, but with this limit I imagine that would be impossible.
Which is the limit that you set?
Thanks!

Unfortunately our implementation of WebDAV wasn’t designed to facilitate syncing but this is one of our major priorities and will look to improve as soon as possible.

I hope this rate limitation will be fixed soon because it’s really annoying. Thanks @JimmyB and to the dev team for your support and make this possible.

We know it can be frustrating for our users so thank you for bearing with us. Big updates are coming soon.

Yes please, rate limitng webdav is a pain

Any updates on webdav?

webdav doesnt work for me either.
it connected one time in 100 tries
the webdash is slow as hell. I have a 1gig down 500up fiber and 8gig took over a half hour, and the mount I cannot trust I dropped files before.
Downloads are slow also, I didnt have this problem when I joined a year ago with the Virtual drive.

Hello, I’m trying to backup by data using restic with rclone and I get continuously errors like the one below. Seems that webdav is somehow limited for Icedrive. When do you plan to fix it?

@Chris What’s the latest on Webdav rate limiting?
I’m looking to backup my Synology NAS to Icedrive via Webdav.

Hello, in May’23 I read your hint that “syncing … is one of our major priorities and will look to improve as soon as possible” and a bit later even “Big updates are coming soon.”.

Unfortunetly all later questions from users got ignored.

So may I ask - is there an update available after 1,5 years when “soon” will be?

Thx!

I’m having the same issue. Really need this to work. Can you finally give an update on when you’ll finish implementing your so called priorities?

Please answer the communities question!

Today I discovered my synology drive wasn’t downloading my icedrive photos anymore (I back them up automatically from my android phone and sync them to my local NAS as a secondary backup).
I disabled and re-enabled webdav in icedrive, but I keep getting connection errors in synology . I found the last time it correctly connected successfully was July 2024. Something isn’t right.
I also can’t use my icedrive account to post in this community forum and I cannot create a new account via my email address. I had to use a gmail address to get it to work.

Please fix this ASAP as it was working before and now it isn’t working anymore. If not I will demand a refund for the months you didn’t provide the service I pay for.

Still not working. I get connection timeout errors.

Yesterday it didn’t work. I changed nothing and now I’m syncing. Hope it keeps working and I hope I won’t see any rate limits.

Webdav not working since July 7th. I’m going to find a different company.

Hi there,

I used WebDav to upload files to Icedrive from my QNAP. But this does not seem to work anymore after I did not need the service for over a year.

Have the settings changed? I can’t seem to get the WebDav connection to Icedrive to work. Please point me at where I can find how to set it up correctly.

Is it Port 443 you’re using?
And I have to enter the path into the URL??

What else is needed to get this to work?

Thanks

@Tommy I’m just responding here to encourage you to cut your losses and give up. It sounds like you are genuinely trying to figure out a way to make this work in good faith. Unfortunately, it is clear that the icedrive team is committed to kicking this can down the road as far as they can without accountability. If you depend on webdav for anything, just give up now. Save yourself countless hours. And if you depend on icedrive as a whole for anything, probably also best to start looking for greener pastures. Sorry to be a negative nancy. It’s just that I have spent dozens of hours of my life that I will never get back, trying in vain to make this system work and trusting that the icedrive team were actually trying to make a usable product in a reasonable timeline. It turns out, that would be a bad assumption. I wish someone would have posted a salty comment like this for me at that time to save me all that time and energy.

If you need any more convincing that this is a fruitless effort, scroll up and read all of the comments in this thread. Look when the thread was started, look at Chris’s single response in this thread, look at the lack of response when real questions were asked about timelines and functionality. Search the rest of this forum for webdav to see more of the same. The most recent thread here Webdav is down? is illuminating. Hope this helps you see that this is not worth any more of your energy because the ice drive team is certainly not putting any of their energy towards it.

Yes, I exactly think as you do. I just wish i had not purchased a lifetime 3TB plan.

I tried other alternatives (as pcloud, and many others…) but they were not stablen on webdav either / when providing the feature.

In fact, i do not hunt for webdav, but simply a “neat” solution for my synology NAS cloudsync feature.

They list a couple of providers, with dedicated links, and provide “webdav” as default…

My tests on icedrive for a couple of months were ok, so i purchased the liefetime plan a couple of years ago… even when putting slow rates, i randomly received HTTP429 errors (too many retries). I opened a couple of incidents, but resigned. I had to change names of files to work around … sigh

I opened a small subscription on google for the most active parts of my backup.
My belief is that they are not able/willing to support this feature. Possibly because

now back to this July incident… or rather removal of the feature.
i tried to use their windows driver to mount as a drive. when i applied a rsync call from command line, it crashed my ethernet driver stack. My PC went dead… i thought initially the ETH port of the mother board was dead… but finally usb old computers and USB keys, i managed to reinstall the ethernet drive and perform some cleanups. My PC is fine now, but i obviously removed their windows mount driver.

So i’m now stuck in a naive hope they will fix & restore the feature, because i did not find any viable (meaning cheap enough) alternative ; and do not want to pay the same sum again.

I would be OK they refund half of the lifetime plan and let me go…
