Hello everyone.
I don’t know exactly if it’s a bug, but the WEB version doesn’t play videos with the MOV extension.
Is this normal?
And if so, can this be changed soon?
Unfortunately .MOV files are not compatible for previewing online.
For web streaming, we are using HTML5 < video > element.
Not all media items are streamable in a web browser - only items with video encoded using an HTML5-compatible codec (e.g. H.263, H.264, VP9 etc.).
Please see this page for a list of compatible video codecs and container formats:
Is there any future possibility of compatibility?
Hi @hadamoleao
Its definitely something our development team are considering. Ill pass your feedback on to them.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.
Anyway we could get markdown (.md) text files available for previewing online while you’re looking at other preview file formats?
@Tom @Chris Hello, gentlemen. Could you please tell us about this format? It is sorely missed. We really need the browser to run .mov
Hi @hadamoleao
We hear you, this is still on our internal roadmap, though we have a few features and fixes prioritised first. Once they’re released, we can look at supporting more formats, such as .MOV files.
