IceMon high CPU?

Win11, ID 3.32

IceMon-cpu
sysinternals process explorer, CPU time descending

I noticed my windows running a bit hotter than expected on idle, i see IceMon.exe is the 2nd biggest biggest cpu hog, above interupts and system (i expect rainmeter to be high, it does a lot of monitoring).

thing is, i have NO icedrive syncs on this machine, only a mounted drive. As i understand, ID uses fuse for the mounted drive so IceMon is only to monitor for defined syncs. Should this be expected.

thx, jj.

same, but after restart it has stopped. this is probably a one time run because of update or something

yes i noticed cpu usage drops to <0.01 % after a service restart…
but after some time it increases to relatively high levels for a service that has nothing to do.

Hi @jjoneil

Make sure the file version for this is 3.0.0.3 (not 3.0.0.2):

C:\Program Files\Icedrive\IceMon.exe

You can check the version by right-clicking the file, selecting Properties, and going to the Details tab.

Older versions of IceMon might use too much CPU in certain situations, so updating to the latest version should help.

Hi Tom

Just had an app update to 3.32, but Icemon is still 3.0.0.1
How do you update it?

Ta

yes, my IceDrive.exe is 3.3.2.132 but IceMon.exe is 3.0.0.1

ahh, i just restarted 3.0.0.1 and its private bytes went from 555MB and rising to 5MB and rising, is there some sort of memory leak that’s causing the increasing cpu?

ok, i stopped the icemon service and re-ran the 3.32 installer. this time it upgraded icemon.exe to 3.0.0.3 - i guess perhaps the first time i upgraded from 3.31 to 3.32 the installer didn’t stop the service first and i guess windows won’t let you update a running service

lets see how this goes

ok half hour later and icemon has gone from 5MB to 6.5 MB. Seeing as it was leaking at about 100MB per hour with the pervious version, that looks much better.

thx, happy new year, jj.

Top marks, well done

I had the same problem with Icemon.exe running at just over 30% CPU and only a few small folders in it doing nothing. Like the others it was on Ver 3.0.0.1. Also ran the 3.32 installer after closing the Icemon.exe service. Icemon.exe upgraded the 3.0.0.3 and appears to be stable sitting on 0.1% CPU.

Thanks all for above info.
